Sinosteel Corp has signed a $690 million, 50-year contract to exploit the Lobe iron ore mine in Cameroon. Located 200km southeast of the economic capital Douala and 40km from the port town of Kribi, the Lobe mine is estimated to hold 632.8Mt of iron ore resources. The project will see the construction of a benefication plant, a mineral terminal at the port, a pipeline to move the ore to the port, and a power plant. The exact co-ordinates are currently not available however the approximate area of location is lat: 2.8337517708605686; long: 9.898999974071907.
