About this development
Construction of the Nairobi Railway City Central Station, public realm and other associated infrastructure works in Nairobi, Kenya. Project value is estimated at Ksh 28 billion . Scope of works: A new central station building at the north entrance, a new exit building to the north, 2 overbridges spanning all the new platforms. Demolition of existing buildings to the west of the existing station building, and construction of the Station Management Block. A new accommodation block to the east of the station entrance, refurbishment of the existing (legacy/heritage) station building. 4 new passenger platforms including refurbishment and expansion of the existing platforms. Retail / food and beverage outlets. Repurposing and refurbishment of the Easy Coach House heritage building, and future provisions for the south entrance. Construction works for the Public Realm: civil works, landscaping, retail / food and beverage outlets. Construction works for the railway yard: Earthworks, modifications to storm water drainage, emergency vehicle and pedestrian routes through the yard to and from platforms, floodlights, and modifications and additions to the yard perimeter fencing and CCTV. Installation of approximately 45km of new track, including fittings and concrete sleepers. Works at Makadara Yard: Earthworks and drainage for a new freight marshalling yard. Installation of approximately 11km of new track, including fittings and concrete sleepers.
