About this development
Construction of the Namaqua wind energy facility on Remaining Extent and Portion 1 of Farm Diep Vlei No. 102 located approximately 80km southwest of the town of Pofadder and 85km east of the town of Springbok, within the Khâi-Ma Local Municipality and Namakwa District Municipality, Northern Cape. The wind energy facility will comprise of up to 54 wind turbines (including turbine hardstand areas), inverters and transformers, operation and maintenance buildings including a gate house and security building, control centre, offices, warehouses and workshops for storage and maintenance, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), temporary and permanent laydown areas, batching plants, roads (internal and access), on-site facility substations/switching stations (up to 132kV) and 33kV cabling between the project components and the on-site facility substations/switching stations and will have a contracted capacity of up to 432MW and will cover approximately 6105ha. The GPS has been estimated at Farm Diep Vlei 29°36'03.5"S 18°46'27.6"E
