About this development
Construction of the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP), also referred to as the Atlantic African Gas Pipeline, Nigeria. The NMGP is an extension of the existing West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP), which originates at the Itoki Natural Gas Export Terminal in the Escravos region of the Niger Delta, Nigeria. Estimated cost: $25 billion. Scope of works: a proposed 5,600–6,200km natural gas pipeline to transport 30 billion cubic meters of Nigerian gas annually through 13 West African countries (Benin, Togo, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania, Morocco) to Morocco, with potential extension to Europe via Spain, it aims to enhance regional energy security, industrialization, and gas exports.
