About this development
Construction of the new Nelson Mandela Memorial Centre and School of Public Governance (NMMC & SPG) on the UCT Upper Campus in Rondebosch, Cape Town, Western Cape. The project is to be a public Centre of Memory, celebrating the values for which Mandela stood. This will be an exhibition space, curated by the Nelson Mandela Foundation and focused on the struggle for freedom in the Cape. There will be a 250-seat conference centre for events and community engagements and a work hub space for Atlantic Philanthropies legacy programs and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. It will provide access to, and information about, the Table Mountain National Park. South Africa National Parks will host a gateway to Table Mountain on the site to encourage an appreciation of the natural beauty of the mountain and the importance its conservation.
