About this development
Improvements of National Route R63 sections 15 and 16 from Bhisho at km 5.8 to the N6 Bridge Intersection at km 1.0, Eastern Cape. The project value is R 1 347 079 099,00. Scope of works: Upgrading of the existing two-lane single carriageway to a dual carriageway from km 5.9 to km 9.6 (approximately 4 km); widening and rehabilitating the existing two-lane single carriageway, including geometric safety improvements, from km 9.6 to the N6 overpass bridge (approximately 20 km); upgrading of sixteen (16) major surfaced road intersections of which may include dedicated right turning lanes off the R63 Section 15; relocation of farm accesses; the construction of a taxi holding facility at Peelton; the construction of 12 km of pedestrian walkways and sidewalks; the upgrade of approximately 3 km of access roads and the upgrade of approximately 5 km of community service roads.
