About this development
Construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (Kenya), Phase 2B and 2C, from Naivasha to Kisumu and from Kisumu to Malaba. The alignment traverses multiple parcels of land along the Naivasha–Kisumu corridor, terminating at Kisumu Port on Lake Victoria, before continuing from Kisumu to Malaba, Kenya. Project value is Sh700 billion. Scope of works could include: Construction of 370 km of new standard gauge railway track from Naivasha to Kisumu and from Kisumu to Malaba. Development of bridges, culverts, and viaducts across rivers, valleys, and wetlands. Construction of new stations at Nakuru, Kericho, Kisumu, and intermediate towns. Installation of signaling, communication, and electrification systems. Environmental and social mitigation measures, including resettlement, noise control, and biodiversity protection.
