About this development
Construction of the Tanzania Liquefied Natural Gas Project, also known as the Likong’o-Mchinga Liquefied Natural Gas Project (LMLNGP), located in Onikong’o Village, Lindi Region, Tanzania, on a 2,071.705-hectare plot along the Indian Ocean coast. Approximately 461km south of Dar es Salaam and 103km northwest of Mtwara. The offshore fields are about 100-300kms offshore from Lindi. Project cost is estimated at $42 billion. Scope of works: Upstream (Offshore Extraction): Drill deepwater wells in Blocks 1, 2, 4 (~47.13 TCF gas). Install subsea production systems, manifolds and flowlines. Midstream (Gas Transport): Build 200–300 km subsea pipelines to Lindi onshore site. Deploy risers and initial treatment facilities (if needed). Downstream (Onshore Processing/Export): Construct a LNG plant (2,071.705 hectares in Lindi) with 2 gas liquefaction trains (10–15 mtpa). Including gas treatment, liquefaction units, 2–4 storage tanks. Build a jetty for LNG carrier loading (140,000–266,000 m³). The approximate GPS location has been placed along the proposed area of construction -9.9108226, 39.7844574.
