Rand Uranium, a subsidiary of Sibanye, intends to develop the Cooke Uranium Project located within approximately 395 hectares of land over various portions of the farms Springbok Kraal 359 KQ, Modderfontein 345 IQ, Doornpoort 347 IQ, Waterpan 292 IQ, Luipaardsvlei 243 IQ, Luipaardsvlei 246 IQ, Panvlakte 291 IQ, Gemsbokfontein 290 IQ, Wildebeestkuil 360 IQ, Rietvalei 241 IQ and Uitvalfontein 244 IQ in the Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, Rand West City Local Municipality, Mogale Local Municipality, and Merafong City Local Municipality, Gauteng. The Project would involve the reclamation of the Cooke TSF through surface reclamation (and the subsequent processing of the reclaimed tailings to extract uranium and gold through a new Processing Plant to be developed adjacent to the existing Cooke Metallurgical Gold Processing Plant, as well as the upgrading of the Cooke Gold Plant. The Project would also include the establishment of overland waste tails transfer pipelines between the Cooke Uranium/Gold Plant and the Cooke TSF, overland slurry transfer and disposal pipeline from the Cooke TSF to the Regional TSF, and supporting infrastructure (overhead powerlines to the Cooke TSF, overland water supply pipeline to the Cooke TSF, and access and service roads).
