About this development
Construction of the hostel for the De Erf Country School, Wolwas Road, Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape. The school and hostel will be developed in two phases. Phase 1 of the project will make provision for 325 learners in the school, with Phase 2 adding a further 325 learners for a total of 650 learners. The hostel will cater for 80 beds during Phase 1 while adding 160 beds during Phase 2, 240 beds in total. A high performance sport centre is planned to include various sports namely indoor pool, netball courts, rugby/athletics/cricket field, tennis courts, Astro hockey field as well as a shooting range. The development of the school will entail the re-development to the majority of the existing buildings on site, with new hostel, schooling and sport amenities being constructed. This will ensure the preservation of buildings of historic value. The architectural design will remain in keeping with the existing style and feel of the properties. Portion 1018 on the eastern side of the proposed development will be retained as an outdoor classroom for agricultural science and will also include a shooting range.
