About this development
Construction of the Magpie PV 2 Photovoltaic Solar Energy Facility on the Remainder of Portion 3; Portions 4, 5 (of 3) and 6 of the Farm Zandspruit No. 2, Registration Division HT, approximately 25km north-east from the Newcastle CBD in KwaZulu-Natal. The solar PV facility will comprise of PV modules and mounting structures, inverters and transformers, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), site and internal access roads (between 6 and 10m wide), IPP (facility) substation and Eskom switching station, internal cabling to link the facility, operation and maintenance buildings including a gate house, ablution facilities, security building, control centre, offices, warehouses and workshops for storage and maintenance and temporary and permanent laydown area and will have a contracted capacity of up to 240 MW and will cover approximately 555 ha. The GPS has been estimated at Farm Zandspruit 27°40'38.2"S 30°07'11.6"E
