About this development
Construction of a 100MW photovoltaic solar energy facility and associated infrastructure called the Merafong Solar Park located within Carletonville along the R501, West Rand District Municipality, Gauteng. The facility will have a contracted capacity of up to 100MW. The power will be evacuated by a 132kV overhead power line to the Eskom Midas Substation located directly south of the site. Infrastructure associated with the Solar PV Facility, which will enable the facility to supply a contracted capacity of up to 100MW, will include: Solar PV array comprising PV modules and mounting structures, inverters and transformers, cabling between the panels, 33/132kV onsite facility substation, including associated equipment and infrastructure, electrical and auxiliary equipment required at the onsite substation that serves the solar energy facility, including a switchyard/bay, control building, fences, etc, cabling from the onsite substation to the Collection Station (either underground or overhead), O&M building, including ablution facility, permanent parking, temporary water storage tanks, external access roads, security main and secondary gates at the fence and peripheral roads.
