About this development
Construction of the Mponeng Solar PV facility with a generating capacity of up to 140 MW, located on Remaining Extent of the farm Oog van Elandsfontein 114 IQ, located 6km south east of Carletonville, and 6km north of Fochville within the Merafong City Local Municipality and West Rand District Municipality, Gauteng. The scope of works also includes a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of up to 200 MWh, and associated infrastructure including a 66 kV overhead power line to the Deep Levels South 132 kV Substation. The power generated will be used to supplement Harmony Gold Mining Company Ltd's energy supply at the Mponeng Gold Mine. The GPS co-ordinates are 26°24'37.0"S 27°28'03.0"E.
