About this development
Construction of the Sweet Thorn wind energy facility and associated infrastructure located within the Matlosana Local Municipality, Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, North West. The WEF is located approximately 11km north-east from Hartbeesfontein, 9km from the Tigane township and 31km from the town of Klerksdorp. The facility will comprise of 58 wind turbines (including turbine hardstand areas), inverters and transformers, construction camps, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), temporary and permanent laydown areas, batching plants, internal and access roads, two operation and maintenance complexes and two grid connection solution alternatives and will cover approximately 9100ha.
