About this development
Construction of a coal-fired power station, coal mine and associated infrastructure near Colenso in KwaZulu Natal Province for Colenso Coal. The proposed power station will make use of conventional coal-fired technology. It is anticipated that the power generation facility will be developed in 3 phases. The final gross capacity of the power station is expected to be 1050MW. The proposed infrastructure includes grid connections, transport routes,pipelines and other facilities required for the operation of the mine and power plant. To be located on Schurfde Poort 1147, Portion 1; Labuschagnes' Kraal 1229, Portion 10; Tugela Drift 106 - Remainder. Capital cost of about R7-billlion.
