About this development
Gamsberg Zinc Mine, near Aggeneys, in the Northern Cape, is proposing to expand the current approved open pit mining operation by establishing an underground mining operation to extract zinc ore from two identified orebodies,namely Gamsberg North, situated beneath the current open pit, and Gamsberg Kloof, situated to the southeast of the current open pit and located under the approved biodiversity set-aside area. The underground materials will be broken using drill and blast activities. Broken materials will be moved with a fleet of underground load haul dumps (LHD) and trucks.
