Project overview
About this development
Construction of a 240 MW solar photovoltaic energy facility and associated infrastructure, on the remaining extent of Farm 431 and the remainder of farm 466 in the Makhado Local Municipality area near Bandelierkop, Limpopo. Project cost has not been disclosed. Scope of works could include: Site preparation and clearing, installation of ground-mounted solar PV arrays with single-axis trackers and mounting structures. Foundation drilling and concreting, deployment of weather/solar measurement stations with in-field installation of inverters. MV transformers and distributed DC-coupled BESS containers (lithium-ion technology). Construction of internal gravel roads, access roads, perimeter fencing for security, stormwater management (channels/berms), water storage and pipelines and the erection of MV overhead and underground cabling and collector stations. Building of O&M structures, storerooms, diesel storage, temporary laydown areas (up to 7ha) and general maintenance areas. Development of project IPP substation (132kV) with transformers. Control/SCADA/protection buildings, switchgear, and compensation equipment. AC-coupled BESS at substation/laydown including power conversion, management systems, transformers, cabling, fencing, offices/workshops and fire protection. On site switching station adjacent to IPP substation. Construction of 132kV overhead power line (30m height) and associated maintenance and access roads to connect to the existing Tabor MTS for grid evacuation, inclusive of all related temporary construction activities. GPS coordinateshave been placed in the approximate central study area -23.381131, 29.688297.
