Project overview
About this development
Construction of the 240MW Klipput Solar Photovoltaic facility including battery storage and associated electrical and grid connection infrastructure, on portion 1 of farm 425, portion 1 of farm 466 and remainder of farm 466 located south of Louis Trichardt in the Makhado Local Municipality, Vhembe District, Limpopo. Scope of works could include: Construction of solar PV fields with single-axis tracking systems, including module mounting structures and foundations. Installation of PV electrical balance-of-plant including inverters, transformers, and medium-voltage cabling. Construction of an IPP substation to collect and step-up generated power. Installation of an AC-coupled Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) including: battery containers/modules, power conversion system, transformers and MV cabling battery/energy management systems, safety systems (including fire protection),fencing and security around the BESS compound and construction of an on-site switching station adjacent to the substation. Construction of a 132kV overhead transmission line connecting the Klipput switching station to the Eskom Tabor Main Transmission Substation. Development of grid access and maintenance roads (including for transmission line servitudes). Civil works including: Internal road network for construction and operations. Storm water management infrastructure (drainage, berms, channels). Security fencing around PV field and electrical infrastructure. Construction laydown and staging areas. Construction of auxiliary and operational infrastructure, including: O&M buildings and control facilities, equipment storage areas and offices or shelters for operations staff. GPS co-ordinates are -23.378000, 29.690500.
