About this development
Construction of the 75MW Makoppa Solar PV Facility including associated electrical and grid connection infrastructure, on portion 1 of farm 465 located south of Louis Trichardt in the Makhado Local Municipality, Vhembe District, Limpopo. Scope of works: Construction of a ground-mounted solar PV field with single-axis tracking modules and associated foundations. Installation of inverters, transformers, and medium-voltage electrical cabling across the PV field. Construction of an IPP substation scaled for 75MW generation capacity. Installation of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Construction of a switching station and 132kV overhead line connection linking the facility to the Eskom Tabor Main Transmission Substation. Development of access and maintenance roads for the solar facility and grid assets. Civil works including internal site roads/tracks, stormwater management infrastructure, site fencing and security, operations and maintenance buildings. Establishment of construction laydown areas for equipment storage, assembly, and contractor facilities. GPS co-ordinates are -23.397017, 29.690600.
