240MW Draailoop Solar PV

Construction of the 240MW Draailoop Solar PV Facility including battery storage and associated electrical and grid connection infrastructure, on portion 1 of farm 425, remainder of farm 430 and farm 431 located south of Louis Trichardt in the Makhado Local Municipality, Vhembe District, Limpopo. Scope of works could include: Construction of ground-mounted solar PV arrays using modules installed on single-axis tracking structures (north–south orientation), including mounting structures and foundations. Installation of PV electrical balance-of-plant including inverters, MV transformers, and medium-voltage cabling across the PV field. Construction of an IPP substation (medium voltage) to collect and step-up generated power. Installation of an AC-coupled Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) including: battery containers/modules and racking, power conversion system (PCS), battery management system (BMS) and energy management system (EMS), MV transformers and cabling, fire protection systems, security fencing around the BESS footprint and adjacent offices/workshops associated with the BESS area. Construction of an on-site switching station (±1 ha footprint). Construction of a 132kV overhead power line (structures up to ±30 m high) linking the facility to the Eskom Tabor Main Transmission Substation. Development of access and maintenance roads for transmission line structures and grid assets. Civil works including: Tracker post foundations, internal access roads and site leveling, stormwater management infrastructure (berms, channels, drainage) and perimeter fencing and security systems. Construction of operations and support infrastructure, including: O&M buildings (control rooms, storage facilities), security compound and vehicle parking areas.
