About this development
Construction of the Ngqamakhwe Regional Water Supply Scheme, Phase 4 located approximately 10km north of Ngqamakhwe Town in the Amathole District Municipality, Eastern Cape. Phase 4 involves constructing 19 reservoirs, bulk gravity main, reticulation and standpipes. Nineteen service reservoirs varying in size from 50kℓ to 375kℓ. These will be concrete reservoirs and a 24hr storage capacity. Clear water gravity mains will be sized to cater for a medium to long term demand of 60ℓ/capita/day and will include a transmission loss factor of 10% and a summer peak factor of 20%. Village reticulation will be designed to deliver 0.17ℓ/s per standpipe and the total length of reticulation is 171 286m with 450 standpipes. The NRWSS Phase 4 is to provide infrastructure to supply bulk water and internal reticulation to portions of Wards 16, 17 and 19 of Mnquma Local Municipality and Ward 31 of Mbhashe Local Municipality. The exact GPS co-ordinates are not available so the marker has been placed in the village of KwaNkqayi, 32°05'34.1"S 27°55'21.8"E.
