Project overview
About this development
Construction of a wind energy facility for the Ummbilla Renewable Energy Farm with a contracted capacity of up to 155MW on a site located approximately 6km south-east of Bethal and 1km east of Morgenzon, located across the Govan Mbeki and Lekwa Local Municipalities within the Gert Sibande District in Mpumalanga. A development footprint of 6455ha has been identified within the project site on Portions 6, 7, 10, 11 and 12 of Farm The Brakfontein Settlement 268 IS, Portions 6, 8, 9 and 10 of Farm Geluksplaats 264 IS, Portions 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 23, 24 and 25 of Farm Bekkersrust 423 IS, Portions 5, 8, 9, 14, 16, 17, 19 and 20 of Farm Klipfontein 422 IS and Portions 18, 25, 27 and 33 of Farm Goedgedacht 458 IS. The wind energy facility is planned to include up to 25 turbines with a total generating capacity of 155MW. The scope of works could include: up to 25 wind turbines with a maximum hub height of up to 130m. The tip height of the turbines will be up to 221m. 33kV cabling to connect the wind turbines to the onsite collector substation, to be laid underground where practical. 33kV/132kV onsite collector substation (IPP Portion), being 5ha in extent. Cabling between turbines, to be laid underground where practical. Battery energy storage system (BESS). Construction compound including site office (approximately 3ha (150m x 200m)). Batching plant of up to 4ha to 7ha. O&M office of approximately 1.5ha adjacent to the collector SS. Construction compound / laydown area, including site office of 3ha (150m x 200m). Laydown and crane hardstand areas (approximately 75m x 120m). Access roads of 12 -13m wide, with 12m at turning circles.
